Vertx Assessor Polo
Rob PincusDescription
The Vertx Assessor Polo includes the WeaponGuard, a semi-compression base layer that attaches to the outer layer at chest level and tucks in. This allows the wearer to comfortably carry gear on the waistline without chafing or rubbing, and without the bulk – or the potential concealed-carry “tell” — of a full undershirt. The base layer also includes VaporCore, which keeps the wearer warm and dry even in hot and humid weather.

This is the assessor Polo shirt from vertex. And while you may think, OK, it's a smart looking Polo Rob and you look good in it. That's not the only reason I'm showing it to you. One of the things I want to talk about is the base layer, the under layer, they call it the weapon guard. And this is a semi compression base layer that is actually connected to the shirt at the seam, which may just look like a styling feature from the front.
But what it's actually attached here and it does a couple of things for you. First of all, obviously, it lets me untuck the shirt, which means I can carry whatever gear I want on my waistline in a concealed way. This particular holster is typical of a lot of holsters that people use. It's a KX holster, it's relatively minimalist. And in the appendix carry position, it means a lot of the firearm is going to be pushed up against your body.
Now, if that's something that you're not comfortable with and it's something that can be annoying during the day. Well, then that's what this weapon guard really provides for. You as a primary function, it allows you to have the effect of an undershirt or a base layer without showing that undershirt or base layer, which for some people are considered not only bulky and unnecessary up here at the top end of the body, but also it can be a tell if you're looking to really conceal the fact that you're carrying gear because some people, especially in warmer climates, although it's rainy today in Florida down here, that base layer could simply mean you're trying to protect that chafing or that rubbing from happening if you're something under the untucked shirt. So that's the first thing that weapon guard does. The other nice thing about this is it essentially acts as a shirt stay for those of us who've been in uniform service.
We're used to having that good tight crisp look with an untucked shirt. Your shirt tends to float all over the place, obviously, uh But with this base layer, which obviously is full all the way around 360 degree that allows it to be tucked in and it actually comes down pretty low. It comes all the way down to the crotch area. So it will secure the shirt also, it is more comfortable. So this is just one of the advantages of this shirt, just generally speaking, it's a high quality shirt from vertex.
And that means a lot to those of us who want durable gear, we're gonna be able to wear out in the range. We are doing a lot of different things and then maybe also head to dinner or that alcohol involved debriefing at the bar after the range session. So I like the assessor polo shirt. All the vertex clothing is great. You should check this out, especially if you like the untucked shirt and carrying your gear in a more comfortable way.
