in theback up gun of course all controls being the same so you are not jumping back and forth. the next thing it would be the same caliber, and lastly it would make sense to have it use the same mags

I am so looking forward to the 9mm version of the XDs as well.

All right I'm here in the Springfield booth and I have what is probably the most anticipated defensive firearm of the year. And I say that without exaggeration, people have been really excited about the XDS last year in the 45 but so many people make the choice that I agree with which is to go with a nine millimeter for their personal defense hand gun and this subcompact nine millimeter that I shot immediate day at shot show. And I can tell you, it performs just like you would expect an XD to perform. This XDS and nine millimeter is going to be really exciting on the market. That what are the features that you guys are pushing besides just the obvious ease of use because it's going to be easy to carry?

Well, pretty much what we're telling everybody is it's exactly the same as a 45. We have a little bit of weight difference here. It's going to be 23 ounces instead of the 21 and a half, like the 45. But other than that it's pretty much identical to the 45 caliber. The magazine capacity is going to be a little different.

You'll have a seven round flush fitting mag and a nine round extended mag still same adjustable back straps same sites. Everything else is the same. Yep, for someone who hasn't tried the XDS only because they didn't want to go to the 45 somebody who's got an XD or an XDM, what can they expect if they want this as their subcompact backup gun? Or maybe there's an alternative when they're wearing tighter fitting clothes or less clothes? If you're familiar with the XD and DM line this is going to be just a smaller version.

You have a single stack. So it's a lot thinner a lot easier to conceal. Everything else is going to be your same dependable XD XDM features. All right. So we know that a modern efficient striker fireD gun is the design that we want for personal defense.

The XD, the XDM and the XDS all fit that bill. And now we're going to be able to get this slim in nine millimeter. I'm really looking forward to this and adding one in my collection sometime this summer. Thank you very much. You're very welcome.
