Description

The SFD-Responder 2.0 ankle medical kit is for Rob Pincus the most convenient way to carry the important medical equipment he knows he should have with him all the time.

At PDN we consider a medical kit worn on the body to be an essential component of self-defense gear. The SFD-Responder 2.0 ankle medical kit is now available, and unlike some products where an “updated and improved” version means it has some minor change such as a new color, the Responder is a great product made by a company that gathered end-user feedback and made improvements to come up with an even better kit.

Full Disclosure

The SFD-Responder 2.0 ankle medical kit was designed by PDN Contributor Alessandro Padovani — but that’s not why Rob Pincus likes it. He likes it because it contains essential emergency trauma gear that is easily accessible, and the kit is comfortable to wear and low-profile.

Evaluation Period for Version 1.0

Rob wore the original SFD-Responder ankle medical kit for over 400 days, so saying that he thoroughly tested it is no exaggeration. He wore it under jeans, suits, and range pants and found it comfortable and unobtrusive.

The only problem he had with the original model of the SFD-Responder was that the slick-sided contents started to work their way out of the pouches as the pouches lost some elasticity over time.

Improved Gen 2.0

Manufacturer FrogPro has solved this problem by adding a sewn-in high-friction rubber strip to the inside of each pouch. The contents do not slip out of the pouches even during vigorous activity, yet the user can remove them with a firm tug. The rubber strip is a valuable improvement.

A medical emergency can happen at any time: while out in public, at home, or during a range training or practice session. The SFD-Responder 2.0 ankle medical kit is a convenient way to have life-saving gear on you at all times.

Right for about a year and a half now I've been carrying the SF responder ankle medical kit from Frog Pro. This was designed by one of our PDN contributors Alessandra Padovani a few years ago. I've got one of the first ones that was brought into the U S and I wore it for over 400 days. That was the gen one model. And it was awesome. And it really allowed me to carry the important emergency trauma medicine stuff that I know I should have with me in a really convenient way. And I don't generally wear shorts very often. So I almost wore it 400 days in a row, wore with suits, wore with jeans, wore with range pants. It's, it's very comfortable, very easy, very convenient. One of the only problems I had with the first-generation was that the pockets here of course, we don't want straps. We don't want flaps. We don't want the things to be hard to get out. And what would happen was that because this pouch of course, over time, loses some elasticity that's natural. And because a lot of the medical equipment is packaged and very slick surface kind of plastic packaging. They would occasionally start to work their way out or even slip out when I was wearing it. And that happened only a few times and I figured out some workarounds, but what they've done at frog pro now is added a rubber strip. So we've actually got a very high friction rubber strip sewn into each of the pouches. You can see the stitching here on the outside behind the new logo of hatch. And then on the other two you can just see the stitching there. And what that does is it doesn't make it impossible to pull them out, but it makes it almost impossible to think that these are gonna work their way out or slip out even under relatively vigorous activity. If you're running, you're chasing. Of course I've got a little toddler at home. I'm moving around after her all the time. And this has just been a great, great improvement. And it's a very subtle one, not a big change. As you can see this gen two looks very much like the gen one. If you go back and look at some of the videos that we posted early on and in the middle of that year and a half of wearing the other one I've worn this one for about two months now you can see it's a little bit worn in, I've worn it on the ranges again I've worn it at trade shows. And during other events. The SF responder really is for me the most convenient way to carry the important medical equipment that I know that I should have with me all the time. Especially if I'm gonna bother carrying a gun I'm carrying the flashlight, I'm carrying the knife. The medical kit is important. This lets me carry it in a very comfortable low-profile and easy to access way. And I really do think that unlike some productds where you see a gen two come out and it's like a color change, or, you know maybe a slightly different pouch size it wasn't important just to have a gen two. I think this friction strip really is a important maybe not necessary but a very valuable improvement to the SF responders. So check it out. So if you're looking for a good way to carry your medical equipment that's gonna be convenient, low-profile comfortable. And of course, easy to access when you need it. The SF responder from frog pro is probably a really good option. You should check it out.
