Here's another important video from the Personal Defense Network. Again with lever action we want to think about how we're going to store it and how it's going to be ready to be used. Magazine tube loaded, half cock on the hammer, and manual safety on fire is a viable way, and it's the way that I prefer to keep a lever action; if I know it's going to be secure where people can't get to it to tamper with it. Immediately, when we get ready to engage in some situation we want to go ahead and just put a round into the chamber and go back to that half cock. If we have time, and if we're able to we're going to go in and put that manual safety on when we do that, when we go back to the half cock, that's the safest way to do it. Manual safety goes back off and again, we're moving through the house or we're dealing with moving towards that threat to make sure our family safe or to get us to a safe place, our safe room, or get out of the house. Immediately upon recognizing a threat, we need to cock the gun, bring it up, touch, press. And one thing about the lever action and a lot of people don't realize is that you can't actually shoot it pretty quickly. Once you get used to the way the action works and you certainly don't have to take the gun down to work the lever action. You want to keep your head on the gun work that lever action. Close it, immediately fire your next round. Check out more videos, just like this one at the Personal Defense Network.
