ARs come in a lot of different flavors and they come with a lot of different accessories. And if you've watched any of the Personal Defense Network videos, or seen any of the things I've done on YouTube in the last couple of years, you've probably seen this rifle before but you certainly haven't seen this device. This is a Foxbeard Aluminum Magazine Baseplate designed to fit on PMAGs. This is actually a really cool new device. This is a prototype device. They aren't gonna be shiny and silver when they finally do come to market but I've been playing around with it. And I gotta say it makes a lot of sense. If we think about why we'd want to put an oversized baseplate on an AR mag, it's the same reasons you'd want to put an oversize baseplate like the I.C.E Claw Baseplates on a defensive pistol mag. If you think about getting this magazine out, if we have a malfunction rather than just have these grooves on the side, we may be wet, maybe hands cold, we don't have as much dexterity, maybe we're wearing gloves. Rather than just the grooves that are built into the new magazine and then a completely consistent contour, as we get to the bottom of the mag, we now have this oversized baseplate which is gonna help us to be able to pull this out, if we do have a malfunction and need to clear that chamber area. Put the rifle down and let's think about how we're going to access this magazine. If this magazine is inside of a pouch in a chest rig, if it's inside of a belt, maybe if it's inside of a pouch that you wear, you throw that pouch over when you grab your home defense rifle. Maybe you're a patrol officer who's got either a vest or a pouch that you throw over. Maybe you've got something on your belt that allows you to carry the mag. Maybe you just keep the mag in a back pocket because you don't wear a rifle, you're not an armed professional with a rifle that actually goes out on patrol. So if you ever grab your rifle, you may just grab a couple of mags, stick it in that back pocket. Maybe you have a cargo pocket or something like that that you stick it into either on this side. Maybe again, the back pocket on this side, if you're left-handed. For the cameras, I'm gonna go ahead and show you why I think this oversized baseplate is great. When I reach back to grab this, my finger can hook on the front of that magazine baseplate, give me a lot more friction to pull this magazine up. Now out of a back pocket that's not really a big deal, but if you think about the way some of the different magazine carriers are designed they cover a lot of the magazine, they cover a lot of the magazine very tightly and they have a really good grip on the magazine. Now that's great if you're running around in the woods or if you're moving your family around and it's chaotic. If you're grabbing a bag that you're swinging around, pulling it out of your vehicle, throwing it over your shoulder, you don't want these magazines popping out. But when it comes time to grab one to put into your rifle you definitely wanna be able to get a good solid purchase and pull it out securely. And this Foxbeard Aluminum PMAG Magazine Baseplate is gonna be something that'll help you get this magazine in your hand, get it into the gun, and of course, get it out of the gun when you need to. Positive handling and efficiency is important when it comes to any defensive rifle accessory.
