Here's another important video from the Personal Defense Network. Imagine you were in a situation where you needed a firearm to defend yourself or your family. You were in your vehicle, not at your home and maybe in a place where you can't carry a firearm legally or choose not to carry a firearm legally in the way of a pistol to defend yourself. But you happen to have a long gun in the back. Maybe you're returning from a hunt, maybe you're returning from the range. Maybe you keep a long gun in the truck just in case. At any rate, what you need to be prepared to do is deploy that firearm from the back of the vehicle as appropriate. The back of the vehicle may be a sky rack, it may be a trunk, it may be something you can reach from the driver's seat. In this situation, I'm coming back from the range. I've been out shooting clays. My shotgun is locked into a case or unlocked but secured in a case in the back of a vehicle. If I could, obviously I would have stayed in the driver's seat and driven away, but let's imagine for whatever situation this is, we can't do that. Coming to the back of the truck. We move in, get to the case as fast as we can. Of course, assuming we can do all this without being under fire right now, from someone over here. Maybe it's better to run away. Always keep in mind that just because you have a firearm doesn't mean that firearm is the best choice. The best choice may simply be to stay put or get away. We made the decision to get the firearm perhaps we're down here taking cover keeping our body mass as much as we can behind where the actual vehicle is going to protect us. Keep in mind that rounds coming under the vehicle could be coming across the cement. Skipping across the ground and hurting us here. Perhaps the best place to be is right here. Getting up off the ground staying as low as we possibly can, getting to our shotgun. In this case, a semiautomatic shotgun. Clearly a sporting shotgun but one that we could use to defend ourselves if we needed to. I'm in this position. I'm going to stay oriented in a low position, if I can. I'm going to get to my shotgun shells here. Maybe put some in my pocket, but certainly as fast as I can I'm going to want to put one in the shotgun get it loaded and get ready to go. Obviously I would continue to do all this here and then use cover as appropriately as I can, and respond in defense of myself or my family as appropriate as a scenario played out. What I want to do is take a look and how we actually manipulate the semiautomatic shotgun. Check out more videos, just like this one at the Personal Defense Network.
