Description

Rob Pincus has found that most people who care about their AR grip angle are thinking about the angle when the rifle is in the shooting position. The standard A2 grip on an M16/AR-15 is about 25 degrees, a fairly steep angle off of perpendicular. The A2 grip can of course be replaced by a grip with a different, maybe more comfortable angle.

But Rob is concerned not only with the shooting position but also with how the grip angle impacts the shooter when the rifle is in the ready position, when the shooter is moving the rifle, or doing reloads, malfunction clearing, and other manipulations. The grip angle can affect the shooter during full days of rifle training or in home-defense scenarios. Rob explains why.
