The last thing you'd expect is for a hard working person to have to face. Up and ready to catch the bus before the light of day, many people feel safe in their cities due to their personal values, great situational awareness, and a firearm by their side with a concealed carry permit. Even in a place like Chicago, where crime is rampant.
The incident was captured by surveillance video. The victim, a 25-year-old woman, was waiting for her bus when a 19-year-old man attempts to rob her at gunpoint.
A woman on the way to work was forced to face such a situation, here is the story courtesy of Media Guide on youtube:
It all went down in Chicago’s Fernwood neighborhood, Chicago police said. As you can see in the video, a struggle occurred, and the woman pulls her weapon when her life is put at risk. The robber dies from a single bullet would to the neck.
The woman, who has a conceal carry license, was armed as well. Surveillance video shows as they struggle, she pulled out her gun and shot him in the neck. The man died later that day after entering a local emergency room.
Neighbors responded to a local news source:
“It’s tragic that he did die, but the lady had to do what she had to do. She’s on a bus stop, probably going to work, you know, and she has to encounter that early in the morning. I’m kinda of proud that, like, that’s what she did because she stuck up for herself.”
“I’m glad that she had concealed carry and good aim, because there is so much going on in these streets”
It goes to show that once again, even the good guys out there need to be on their toes – at every hour of every day!
This is why you have to be ready. Have situational awareness, train, and have a round in the chamber ready to fire. Understand the use of force continuum but be prepared.
