2011: The Year in Review at PDN

Believe it or not, 2011 was actually our first full calendar year at Personal Defense Network. Although we had a very soft launch at the SHOT Show in January 2010, it wasn’t until the spring that we really had a collection of articles and videos worthy of “spreading the word” about. Since that time, we have had well over 1 million video views, added more than a dozen incredibly qualified contributors, and created or collected scores of video clips and articles for our members to learn from and comment on.

Of course, 2011 was a year of significant growth for us. We have seen a consistent increase in our Facebook page supporters every month and recently passed the 2,600 mark. We hope to double that by the end of June 2013, with your help, so pass the word to your friends and have them check out what we have to offer — and be sure to “like” us if they approve.

We’ve also seen a dramatic increase in the numbers of comments on our videos and articles and discussions around the Internet, in our own forum and on YouTube. Out of our 2,500 YT subscribers, 1,900 came on board this year. Our Facebook fans are from all over the globe, from the Philippines to Brazil to South Africa. Our growing number of fans are commenting on, sharing and re-tweeting PDN videos and content. People are talking about PDN on their websites and blogs, and others in the industry are sharing our content and videos as well.

There is no better way for you to help us choose our topics and address your concerns than to express your thoughts and opinions in regard to existing content. Let us know what you like, don’t understand, or think you need more information on!

While we create several video clips every quarter specifically for online use, many of our clips are excerpts from our DVD series, which now comprises almost 50 titles. This year, we have gone back to the most popular titles in that series and pulled out some incredibly important fundamental pieces. When you watch a video at PDN, you’re not just getting the latest, greatest, flashiest topics that we think will create a “buzz.” In fact, in many cases, we prefer to shy away from the latest fads in order to concentrate on some of the simplest and most universal issues confronting those interested in personal defense. So when you’re browsing through the titles and see something that you think you already know everything about, don’t be afraid to click on Combat Accuracy or Presenting a Firearm from the Holster… maybe you’ll just get a little refresher, or maybe you’ll get an important new insight into something that is fundamental to your training and practice.

Don’t forget to suggest to your friends interested in the highest quality training information on the Internet that they join us! Registered members at PDN get access to select information, and there is a lot more to come in 2012. Among other videos planned for the coming year, we have already filmed several segments on self-defense for women, more LaserLyte training equipment tips, addressed some myths that are far too often “taught” in the training world, and worked with a couple of great new contributors. Look for these and many more videos to be posted on PDN throughout 2012.

Also in the works are more promotions and giveaways both through the PDN site and our Facebook page.

More exciting news for 2012: get ready for the Personal Defense Network Training Tour. Your chance to train with us on a range near you and possibly be part of our Video Clip Library is right around the corner!

Thank you for your support and interest in training!

The best and freshest training that I've seen in a long time. None of the gamester garbage that gets past off sometimes.
